Thonotosassa Outage History
Why Thonotosassa Homeowners Act
Thonotosassa hangs off the same Tampa Electric grid that serves the rest of the county. A third of it, 222,968 of 687,320 Hillsborough accounts, was dark at Hurricane Ian's peak in September 2022, and Hurricane Idalia's glancing pass in August 2023 still put 5,500 out.

Thonotosassa Pricing
What Does a Generator Cost in Thonotosassa?
Whole home installs in the Tampa Bay area typically run $7,000 to $25,000+. Here's where most Thonotosassa homes land.
Essential circuits (lights, fridge, AC unit)
Most homes under 3,000 sq ft (full house)
Larger homes, multiple HVAC zones
Large homes, home offices, medical equipment
Prices include equipment, in-house installation, transfer switch, permit fees, and our 12-year warranty on every Generac air-cooled unit we install. Where a Peoples Gas main reaches your street, a natural gas connection typically adds minimal cost compared with a propane tank installation.
Because GenerX employs all labor in-house, we eliminate the third-party markup that drives up installation costs elsewhere. Our buying volume as Florida’s largest dealer means we get better equipment pricing than smaller dealers. The result: a higher-quality installation at a more competitive price, not a trade-off.

Frequently Asked Questions
Thonotosassa Generator Questions, Answered
Who permits a Thonotosassa generator?
Hillsborough County; Thonotosassa is a census designated place with no city hall. The county’s checklist has a Florida EC or ER licensed contractor apply for the electrical trade permit on HillsGovHub, and the inspector expects the installation manuals with the maker’s clearance requirements on site. GenerX pulls the permit with a licensed electrician and schedules the inspections. You sign the Notice of Commencement and provide a property survey.
Is there natural gas service in Thonotosassa?
On a few streets at most. The Peoples Gas tariff covers unincorporated Hillsborough County without naming Thonotosassa, so plan on a propane tank unless a main already runs past the lot; the free estimate settles it.
Which utility serves Thonotosassa homes?
Tampa Electric, in all likelihood: it holds 700,157 of Hillsborough’s 701,412 electric accounts, and your bill confirms it.
Does my Thonotosassa property need HOA approval?
Acreage outside a subdivision usually has no association. Inside one, GenerX supplies the board with a site sketch, the sound sheet and the screening plan.
How quickly can GenerX reach Thonotosassa?
Thonotosassa homes are served from our nearest facility, with parts stocked at our local facility. Repair lines are open 24/7, and a statewide fleet moves into Tampa Bay after a widespread outage.
