We do it with a lot of things: birthday cake, hot wings during Superbowl parties, insurance coverage, sunscreen… the list goes on. Ultimately, the desire is the same; we want to comfortably have as much as we need, without ending up with a ton of waste.
Our customers ask us all the time, “What size generator is enough?” The answer is always pretty much the same: it depends on your home and your needs.
The best way to determine what that looks and feels like for your home is to schedule a free consultation and quote with one of our industry experts, by clicking here.
We’ll discuss how your home functions, how your family functions in it, and what would make you feel protected during a power outage.
But while you’re waiting (and it won’t be long, we promise), here are our three primary standalone generator coverage tiers.
Essential Circuit Coverage
The Essential Circuit Coverage tier offers the largest product line available.
Starting with the economically priced Generac CorePower™ Series, the Essential Circuit tier may cover:
- Lights and TV in the family room,
- Kitchen lights, small appliances, and refrigerator,
- Bathroom energy needs,
- Home office appliances,
- Garage door opener,
- AC unit,
- and your furnace!
We’re proud to offer an introductory series product that would still keep most families safe, comfortable, and productive in their time of need.
Managed Whole House
With our Managed Whole House tier, we offer more coverage with less generator, by pairing a smaller generator with one of Generac’s Nexus™ load shedding switch options.
This creates a managed power solution where non-essential circuits are shed when the generator approaches maximum capacity, and cycles back on when essential circuits no longer require power; ensuring all circuits receive power at different times.
Complete Whole House Coverage
While it’s nice to know your basic needs are covered (a peace of mind offered by the Essential Coverage series), or that all your family’s needs are covered at the right time (made possible through our Managed Whole House Coverage); some homes simply need to have everything running, all the time.
And for that, we’re able to provide Complete Whole House Coverage.
Complete Whole House Coverage takes the guesswork out of it all. By pairing one of Generac’s larger kW units with the proper transfer switch, you’d be the family on the block running business as usual during an electrical outage. Every appliance, application, or system in your home could be available the very moment your generator takes over providing your power supply needs.
Not all homes are created the same. The same thing goes for generators. Maybe you’ve not considered all the power needs you’d actually rely on during an emergency. Maybe you’ve overestimated how much energy you’d use and could save yourself a few dollars by scaling back a bit on your generator search. Or maybe you know exactly what you want already, and you’re just looking for trustworthy, reliable, experienced experts to partner with you in this investment.
Wherever you find yourself, we’re ready to meet you right where you are. Let us guide you through one of the most important decisions you’ll make during your homeownership experience.
We’re sure you have more questions, and we’d love to answer them for you, in detail.
You’re probably wondering “How big of a Generator do I need to run my home?” GenerX will work with you to determine your backup power needs and select the right generator for your home. We make this process as painless as possible through the utilization of Generac's...

"Mark Costis and the Generx team keep my whole house powered in case of city power outages. They have the greatest service and excellent products. With a full tank of propane (250 gallons) I can run my whole house for at least a week. Thanks Mark! A Generx Generator was a great investment!"
"Irma would've been an even bigger nightmare without our generator--it's officially my new favorite thing, and I'm grateful for the work you're doing in the Tampa Bay area."
